On November 6th, the Network held a four-day Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training, which is held annually. 52 nurses attended from across the province, including Sault Ste Marie, London, and Cornwall - to name a few. Presentations were provided by experts in the field, and training with professional patients was made available.
Why is this training important?
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) are registered nurses who have completed specialized education and clinical preparation in the medical forensic care of the patient who has experienced sexual assault or abuse. Our SANE training is an excellent opportunity for our nurses to build on their knowledge and skills, as well as meet and share experiences with other nurses doing similar work across the province. Our goal is to ensure that our nurses leave with a strong skill set and knowledge base.
